Hand writing WITHOUT Tears???

Our school has purchased a program to help our students learn correct letter formation and writing.  Each student has the opportunity to explore each letter by building, writing, reading, and matching.  These materials are place in literacy centers.  As the student explores a letter, the materials provided encourage correct letter formation, and draws attention to characteristics specific to the targeted letter.  An excellent way to teach a child in the way they learn best, PLAY!
Notice how he found the word CAT, wrote it on the chalk board, and is checking it on the mat.  He found the match, wrote it, and read it.

In this photo, he is using the mats to build the letter A, then he wrote it on his chalk board.  Do you see the smiley faces in the top left corner?  This is called the "starting corner".  When the child begins writing a letter they always begin at the starting corner.  This teaches the correct letter formation, starting at the top to begin the letter, never from the bottom.
